Paul Pagk

Paul Pagk (b. 1962, Crawley, UK) completed his studies at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris (1978–1982). He lives and works in New York. His abstract oils are built around a consistent language of color field and geometric drawing, combining freehand geometric lines with a subtle gestural abstraction that challenges the flatness of the canvas.

His work has been shown at institutions including the Centre d'Arts Plastiques, Royan (2022); the Fondation Fernet-Branca, Saint-Louis (2021); and the C.R.A.C. Montbéliard (1999). Recent solo exhibitions include Miguel Abreu Gallery, New York (2023); Galerie Eric Dupont, Paris (2019, 2016, 2014); Baukunst Galerie, Cologne (2008); Markus Winter, Berlin (2007); CRG Gallery, New York (1995, 1994); Thread Waxing Space, New York (1993, 1991); and Galerie Jean Fournier, Paris (1987). Recent group exhibitions include Galería Marta Cervera, Madrid (2024); Marlborough Gallery, New York (2023); and the Miettinen Collection, Berlin (2020).

Pagk's work is held in the permanent collections of the Fonds National d'Art Contemporain (FNAC), Paris; Les Abattoirs, Toulouse; FRAC Picardie; the Springfield Museum of Art, Ohio; and the Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, among others. He has received the NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship in Painting (2018), a Joan Mitchell Foundation grant (2014), and fellowships from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation (2012).
